My background is diverse but not disparate. Integrating artful and technical communication is my profession and my passion. I bring to the table over five years of professional editing experience, many more years of my own personal and academic writing practice, and a lifelong love of accurate, correct, and expressive language. Whether as editor, writer, teacher, web designer, civil engineering CADD consultant, or scholar, I craft written and visual documents that communicate complex technical and conceptual information with clarity, balance, and visual appeal.
As editor and writing coach I can help you express your ideas and stories in writing.
I work with writers on projects ranging from letters and proposals to novels, stories, and blog posts to technical reports and manuals. The principles of effective writing are always key, though style and voice differ according to audience and purpose.
I offer content or developmental editing as well as copyediting and proofreading. When I edit your manuscript there will be no errors of spelling, punctuation, grammar, or syntax, and it will be expertly formatted. I am adept at organizing and structuring documents long and short, and I am skilled at working with authors to identify, focus, and support the essential components of the argument or narrative. I especially enjoy working with English language learners, as both editor and coach.
Let's turn your good ideas into clear, concise, persuasive writing.

I can assist writers of dissertations, master's theses, and journal articles in the social sciences and humanities. I edit for conceptual coherence and cohesive argument, as well as the mechanics of writing.
I have particular expertise in (and enjoy) editing citations and reference lists. I am thoroughly versed in the Chicago Manual of Style Author-Date system, though I also use the Chicago Notes and Bibliography system, APA, or MLA (and I'm prepared to learn whatever citation system you use).
Beyond my academic achievement and work experience, I am simply a very talented and eagle-eyed editor who is thoroughly versed in the theoretical concerns and language current in academia.
The Web offers an embarassment of riches in learning resources such as blogposts, tutorials, instructional videos, and reference resources. Multiple useful answers to any web design question I have are rarely more than a few keystrokes away. Given that in any given session of editing and coding I might consult one to ten different web resources it is impossible for me to acknowledge everyone whose work I have benefitted from. Below I hit some of the high points and resources I return to repeatedly.
